The Pledge: LIVE WITH LESS PLASTIC

The Plastic Issue

We have produced a lot of plastic in the last century. It's cheap and strong, light and very versatile. Why wouldn’t we take advantage of plastic?

However, thanks to its indestructible nature, plastic is going to stick around for hundreds of more years – with catastrophic effects on wildlife and the environment. It’s time to rethink the way we use plastic.

We can make a big impact with small easy actions

The Plastic Facts

  • By 2050 we expect to see more plastic in our oceans than fish

  • 100,000 tiny bits of plastic could end up in the ocean with each shower you take, depending on the products you use.

  • Only 9% of all plastic waste has ever been recycled

  • A 2015 study estimated that 90% of the world’s seabirds and 25% of fish contain plastic in their stomachs.

Can you help?

The smallest change in habit, the smallest gesture or action, accumulated over time, can make a big difference.

Just like one less drink after work means a looser waistband, or weekly classes means you’ve learned a new language; regular easy actions add up to big achievements over time.

That’s our ethos behind #SmallActionBigImpact.

If lots of positive people like you join in making the same changes, the impact can be monumental.

By signing up to pledge TO LIVE with less plastic, you can lead the charge in making a difference.
